According to Jet.com’s spokesperson, Kumail Nanjiani, the company created a new shopping club that allows customers to not be required to purchase products in bulk. Nanjiani explained how products on Jet.com are already posted at relatively low prices. Amazingly, if customers add other items to the already low-priced products, Jet.com will unlock additional savings (smart cart bonus) on items that are relevant to the purchase. For example, let us assume a consumer needs a formal dress to attend a wedding. The consumer finds the perfect dress at a reasonable price and adds it to their cart. After this action, Jet.com unlocks the option for them to buy a pair of shoes for five dollars less than the original price due to their purchase of the dress! See how this works? As another example, as stated by Nanjiani, “You add peanut butter, it lowers the price of jelly.” Consumers complete their purchases satisfied knowing they received a great deal, and sellers have the opportunity to possibly list related items so that more of their products are likely to be included in multiple purchases, which can increase the chances of repeat customers.
