Jet Breaks Top 10 Fastest $1B Flips in Venture History

Starting a business isn’t too difficult when you have all your pieces together.  The hardest task by far for an entrepreneur is making their business grow once it’s launched.  Marc Lore, CEO of Jet.com, has mastered the e-commerce world and continues to be an extremely successful entrepreneur.  Wal-Mart just recently acquired Jet.com for over $3 billion and that put them in the Top 10!  To be more specific, the Top 10 fastest $1B flips in venture history:

  1. Airwatch (2014) – Bought by VMware for $1.5 billion less than a year after its first venture funding
  2. Flexus Biosciences (2015) – Took about 4 months longer after their first venture fuding to be acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb
  3. Oculus VR (2014) – Purchased by Facebook for $2 billion about 1.5 years after it’s first venture funding
  4. PopCap Games (2010) – It lasted about a year and 9 months after it’s first venture funding before it was acquired by Electronic Arts
  5. Jet.com (2016) – Acquired by Wal-Mart only 741 days (a little over two years) after New Enterprise Associates led it’s $75M venture funding event
  6. Cruise Automation (2016) – General Motors purchased this company for $1B about 774 days later
  7. Lynda.com (2015) – Purchased by LinkedIn 27 months later for a hefty price
  8. Instagram (2012) – Facebook took advantage of this growing app only 2 and half years after it’s first venture funding and bought it for quite the amount
  9. WhatsApp (2014) –  Purchased by Facebook for $22 billion only 3 and half years after the funding began
  10. Nicira Network (2012) – VMware bought this startup for $1.3 billion about 3 and a half years later.
